Changing the World Together: Counter Cultural

. . . Jesus began a tour of the nearby towns and villages, preaching and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom of God. He took his twelve disciples with him, along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases. Among them were Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons; Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s business manager; Susanna; and many others who were contributing from their own resources to support Jesus and his disciples.
Luke 8:1-3 NLT

The Kingdom of Jesus Leads me to. . .

1. Reject my society's Stigmas.

After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman
from whom he had cast out seven demons.
Mark 16:9 NLT

. . . Go find my brothers and tell them “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them his message.
John 20:17b & 18 NLT

2. Refuse my cultures view of Resources.

While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head.
Matthew 26:7 NLT

3. Rearrange what I see as Valuable.

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be  taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38- 42 NIV

4. Reimagine my Loyalty.

When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
Matthew 27:54-56 NIV
