Whether you’re new to church, have been following Jesus for many years, or are looking for something new—you’re welcome here. Our hope is to give you a place where you experience a fresh connection to God and provide a place where people can come as they are and feel loved and belong.
We value people:
We have a genuine heart for loving people and seeing them become faith filled followers of Jesus. We know that everyone is significant and has a purpose and Jesus is the only one who can give us the meaning and direction our life needs to make an impact.
We value: Helping people who are far from Jesus come close to Him.
We value God's Presence:
In our lives, we've learned that being present can help in all sorts of situations. At Vineyard Community Church, we know and realize that God is always active and moving. He always is speaking to us and through us in order to bring people to Himself. We long to see God move and break through and bring us new life.
We value: Depending on and experiencing the work of the Holy Spirit.
We value practicality:
We understand that life can be messy—most of us aren't MacGyver—and we've given up hope of fixing anything. We think that the best ways and methods we can use to handle what life throws at us can be found in scripture.
We value: Teaching the Bible in practical ways that lead to kingdom-living.
We value community:
Here at Vineyard Community Church, we know that small groups, what we call LifeGroups, are the bedrock of the church. If people don't grow in community, the church can become stale and people can become isolated. We don't want that for anyone.
We want you to know you belong and because we value people, we also value: Cultivating healthy, growing relationships in and outside of our community.
Jim and Kristy Bricker started Vineyard Community Church with a small group of friends in 1993. It was then that the Holy Spirit instilled in Jim's heart the vision of a church where people—churched and unchurched—could come as they are and feel loved. That worshiped with passionate, relevant, and upbeat music, taught the Bible in practical ways to inspire people to live a Kingdom lifestyle, and had a casual setting where all would feel welcome and enjoy.
So, on the Southside of Indianapolis, on Mother's Day of 1993, Vineyard Community Church met for the first time in a meeting room at the Saint Andrews Apartments in Greenwood. That first celebration included 35 people. And we've been celebrating ever since.
Over the years the church has met in several locations including a daycare center, a former skating rink, and a former ladies workout center. In 2006, the church moved to our current location, 512 S. Madison Avenue. Our church family has grown from 35 people to more than 1000, from the local gathered body to people who view online.
